Privacy Policy

What we collect
We run no analytics, and we do not collect names or email addresses. Marky runs on Google Cloud, which logs each request (your IP address, browser and the page) and keeps those logs for 30 days. We use them to keep the service running and to stop abuse.
Advertising
Google AdSense shows ads on some pages. Its script loads on every page, before you choose, so Google receives the request (your IP address, browser and the page) as it would on any site you visit. Until you accept cookies, we tell it not to set ad cookies or personalize ads. If you accept, AdSense may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing across the web. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google's Ad Settings.
Content you pin to IPFS
When you pin a document, it is encrypted and the ciphertext is stored on the IPFS network. IPFS is a decentralized, public network — what is pinned to it may be cached, replicated, and stored by third-party nodes beyond our control. Pinned content may persist indefinitely, even if unpinned from our service. What persists is the ciphertext; the key is held by Marky, never published, and destroyed when a document is taken down, which is what makes those lingering copies unreadable. If you also set a passphrase, the content is encrypted under it first, and that layer is one we cannot open at all.
Cookies and consent
We load no tracking scripts. The AdSense script above sets no ad cookies until you accept them in the consent banner. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage. You can change it anytime via the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
Third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. The only third-party services that receive data are Google Cloud, which hosts Marky and keeps its request logs; Google AdSense, as described above; and Pinata, which processes your content for IPFS pinning.
Changes to this policy
If you update this policy, we'll change the effective date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
